Catchphrases
I stumbled upon this video on the Entertainment Weekly website. It has 7 decades of TV catchphrases. It has everything you could expect and more. It even includes Party Down's "Are we having fun yet?" I LITERALLY love this. Watch and enjoy.
New Golden Boy on Glee!
One of the Glee Project Winners, Damian McGinty, made his debut on the hit show last night. He plays an Irish foreign exchange student, Rory Flanagan, staying with Brittany. I loved Damian on the Glee Project. I don't know if it was the Irish brogue or his warm smile but he won me over
day one. As much as I wanted Cameron Mitchell to win, Damian is a perfect fit for Glee. Last night's episode was proof. Pot O' Gold was a packed episode. There was a ton going on that was sometimes hard to follow. I think this is one of Glee's weak points. The episodes have so many story lines. Trying to follow what is going on can sometimes make you dizzy. Last night's episode especially was no exception.
Story lines included:
- Rory Flanagan the new exchange student
- Santana and Brittany joining the new all-girl glee club
- Finn trying to affirm his leadership role in the New Direction because he fears Blaine will take his place
- Burt Hummel and others funding Westside Story and then deciding to run against Sue.
- Quinn plotting to get Beth back
- Puck hooking up with Shelby!!!
So much happened last night. I wish Glee would be a little more narrow in their stories. It would make it easier to understand and make people want to keep watching. Don't get me wrong, I really enjoyed the episode but I have seen Glee do better. There was so much going on I've already forgotten what songs they performed...well almost. Damian singing "Its Not Easy Being Green" was amazing.
Back to Damian, he did an amazing job on his first episode. He made it so much sweeter and heart warming. I could not take my eyes away from those big blue eyes and that huge smile he had. His character picking out marshmallows from a box of Lucky Charms was so cute and funny. His voice has definitely gotten stronger since he was on the Glee Project. I am so excited to see what else he has to offer.
What I'm looking forward to in the next few episodes:
- More Damian!
- Darren Criss (I could watch him sing and dance all day long.)
- The Trouble Tones. I want to see how this girl group will do up against New Directions. From last night's Candyman number it seems like ND might need to step up their game.
- Burt Hummel Kicking Sue's ass in the elections. (One can hope)
- Will Finn and Rachel finally go all the way? This just seems so silly but I think its time they talk about this.

And so it begins...
Few friends watch or even think about TV as much as I do. It has been the one constant in my life. It has been there for me through all my ups and downs. Research has shown that people can form parasocial relationships (attachment to non-human beings) with their favorite TV characters. I think I have surpassed this and have formed a relationship with TV itself. I am obviously not in love with the tangible television set but the worlds I am able to experience with every TV show and movie.
This is my homage to TV. From time to time I'll write about other things (a love letter to JGL will be coming soon) but this is dedicated to the wonderful world of television. This is mostly for myself but others are more than welcome to comment or just follow.
